This project was initiated to maximise the potential of an existing site. The site had a large land area with a single house located in the middle. After liasing with our clients, a design was realised for their home and office to be located near the top of the site. Working with the surveyor, the site was then subdivided.
The design for the top house was to maximise the site and the wonderful sea views available while working within strict height covenants. Our clients wanted a classic, timeless design with modern clean lines and clever use of materials.
A palette of aluminium cladding with feature panels of rendered brick veneer formed the envelope of the building in a clean and classic look. Low pitch roofs with generous overhangs help express the modern lines the clients were after. Large glazing units and frameless glass balustrades open the house to take advantage of the light and vista.
Open plan living flowing out onto a large tiled deck and master bedroom wing were located on the top floor to take advantage of the panoramic sea views.
A central double height corridor with open staircase provides plenty of natural light and connects all the spaces within the house and the outdoor living area.
A kitchenette tucked away at the end of a corridor helps serve poolside entertainment. The office downstairs provides direct and convenient access from the driveway.
